Re: Place to go.

I might do Fladbury tomorrow [Wednesday], I don't always have a bag full but that's probably because I am a rubbish fisherman, but it can produce. Will try to remember to post how I got on if I go.

Dead maggots. Help

I've used dead maggots for freebies a few times when there's weed in the swim to try and keep some on top or near the top of it. I have used the hot/boiling water method, before I start out, but after a time they look real grotty and not at all fresh. I did think of kill as you go with a flask of hot water but that is more clobber to carry. Any ideas of a better method that will keep them looking a bit more tasty for longer. Thanks.

Re: wasperton

It doesn't quite answer your question but I fish it from time to time and always assume that's what I might catch, I have had them in the past so I don't doubt they are still there. Haven't been there for about 9 months. It does look prime barbel water. I nice stretch of water and park by your peg is a bonus.

Re: BAA Salt & Pepper set on ebay ????????

Not many of those about I bet, maybe a one off. Looks in good condition and a bit of a novelty. Don't think I will be buying though. Drowning his sorrows with a pint by the look of it after catching nowt.

General info.

Just a bit of info which may be useful if you are fishing the Avon in the coming days. Fladbury, the track to the river below the bridge is still blocked by fly tipping so no riverside parking at present it seems.. This was mentioned in a recent newsletter. Did not walk too far but pegs below weir not too bad though not cleared yet.

Marlcliffe, pegs nice and clear but lillies growing along much of the river up-stream of the car park so a bit snaggy unless you are a good rod length out or more. Fished it on the 16th, a bit slow going with just small perch on the float., a second rod with boilies or lob worm was dead all day. but that's fishing, and I like it there.

Park Farm, pegs not cleared yet, not complaining about that, but if you want to fish it take your shears, [and perhaps food and water supplies, you may be lost in the undergrowth and be gone some time]..

Barton, as was mentioned I think on this forum, a marina is being constructed there, access to pegs downstream of the car park not possible, unless you can swim across the marina entrance with a seat box and a bag of rods ?. Up stream ok but only walked a few pegs. Maybe there is access down stream further down the road now ?

Bridge closure at Bidford is a pain, looks like being a few months before it is repaired.

Info from a ride round on the 14th. Hope this may be of some use to someone Re uncleared pegs, not moaning about this, so many to do and if done too early would soon overgrow this time of year while in the closed season. Some people do complain, but if you don't want to help don't moan.

Cheers.
