Re: night fishing

For us poor souls that work 8.30 - 5.30 the winter months proves especially difficult to get out, Being able to fish until 8 or 9pm would be helpful.

Re: Stacklands in the news again!

I can't speak for other BAA waters as I don't bailiff them. Myself and Pete both live locally to the fishery and both fish it. One of us is there at least once a day (I went this afternoon), and I am back tomorrow at sun up to fish. As fishermen we are acutely aware of some of the issues on other BAA stretches, especially with litter. We are absolutely determined to make sure that Stacklands does end up like this.

Quantify over zelous bailiffing? And if you are not seeing bailiffs on the Severn, Avon and Teme please feel free to offer your services.

Re: Stacklands in the news again!

It would seem that the reply to my post has for some reason been deleted. I can see it on the email notification however so this will be my final word on this particular subject.

5 people were fishing on Saturday afternoon, 3 of which were wading, all five were checked, and all but one was amicable and friendly. None of the others felt they had to "doff their cap" and none of the others were bothered about the 90 second disruption to their day.

With regards to locals, the land owner and peoples accents. My fellow bailiff is both local AND has a brummie accent, no one has had an issue with him!

Mr. Williams, the land owner, is friendly and receptive. He has rightly has had concerns having cars drive through his land to the car park and has seen anglers on the fishery late at night in the Summer (way past 1 hour after sundown) had cars park on the bank, had cars and campervans stay over and had anglers bring their dogs on the fishery despite him having sheep in the fields. Considering all of this I personally think he has been very tolerant!

The only people that can fish on Stacklands are BAA members. I don't care where they are from (we've had anglers from Liverpool to Exeter visit us) If locals want to fish the fishery, all they have to do is what everyone else does, pay the £40 and abide by the club rules.

Myself and Pete will continue to bailiff Stacklands as per instructions from the BAA. If we ask for your membership we expect to see it (incidentally NO-ONE has had a problem with this until this unfortunate post) if you don't have it, expect to be asked to leave. Stacklands is a fantastic fishery. We intend to keep it this way.

Re: Stacklands in the news again!

Ahh. I've been waiting for this post. I see your attitude online is no different to in person so at least I suppose your rudeness is consistent. What were was your passing comment after I had politely and justifiably asked you to see your membership? "I assume I won't be asked again?" Well under the terms of your membership you can be asked any time by any member any amount of times. Stacklands is bailiffed by myself and one other. The farmer is concerned about his land because we have had members driving up to the banks, we keep a note of number plates because we have had members staying over night in the car park (a camper van in one instance) we have a no tolerance stance on litter of which you may have noticed there was none at all. We bailiff these stretches on a voluntary basis, your membership cost a measly 40 pounds a year and included in that you get to fish this fantastic fishery free of litter with somewhere to park. A little bit of common courtesy when asked for licence to do so wouldn't go amiss when we are trying to do our job.
