Re: Stacklands (Wye) Parking

I don't want to sound as if this is a major problem. We as bailiffs tend to patrol the fishery in the afternoons and evenings and I personally have only seen this behaviour once, by an older couple packing up for the day. Even so, if one person does it, it give the green light for everyone so we have to be strict. The vast majority of anglers at Stacklands have been fantastic, there is not so much as a sweet wrapper left on the bank and all members have been happy to see us bailiffs doing our job.

Stacklands (Wye) Parking

Hi all.

I have received a complaint from the Farmer that some members are pulling cars up to the bank to load up/drop off tackle.

Can I remind everyone that cars are not to be driven on the bank at Stacklands, also, he has mentioned that people have been seen fishing beyond an hour past sunset.

Can all Anglers please ensure that they keep to the track from the gate to the parking area only, that they are off the fishery at the correct time and that visitors/partners/non anglers have the relevant non anglers membership.

As Bailiffs we try and use common sense as much as possible, we do however have a fine balancing act to appease anglers and the land owner respectively. We will be enforcing the rules of the association to the letter in respects of this fishery to maintain its pristine condition and keeping the land owner on side. Please help us by keeping to the very simple rules of the Association.

Thanks

Re: Stacklands Float Fishing

Hi Nick ,

The upstream swims are low and you will be able to wade there (be careful!) Top of the second field on the bend looks best.

If you are not feeling so adventurous the croys in the first field lend themselves to float fishing, long glides and decent flow perfect for trotting.

Hope you enjoy your trip, I may see you on the bank.

Fish Care (Stacklands)

Evening everyone,

A very large Barbel was found tonight at the Stacklands fishery dead in the water.

There may be any number of reasons for the death of this fish and I am not pointing fingers at all.

However, it is worth taking into consideration fish care and to remind everyone that the river is very low, Oxygen levels low and the temperature high. If you are lucky enough to catch a Barbel please remember how hard they fight and that the need adequate time to recover when caught. The Barbel Society handling code is available here.

Thanks
