Re: Night fishing and bad behavior at Fladbury

Again, lots of if’s, but’s and maybe’s on the thread.

Couple of inputs from myself:

The fact that 1 person was booked on that venue at the time does not mean they are the guilty party. He/she may not have been aware what was happening in another peg or if they were, may not for whatever reason not wished to get involved. Or,

The person booked on and a mate were to blame, but surely if they had gone to the effort of keeping to the rules in booking on would know they would be easily traced. Pretty unlikely but possible.

The only sure way to confirm blame when anyone Witness’s this or any other anti social behaviour on any waters is if the witness feels comfortable, is to photograph / video the incident and pass on to the relevant party. Again a personal decision at the time taking into account personal safety etc.

I’m sure we have all seen the effects of all types of anti social behaviour on the banks, dealing with it is another matter. Typically it usually comes from a party of more than 1 person.

All comes down to the minority spoiling it for the majority. Personally I do not night fish, but am not against others night fishing but am surprised given the location that night fishing is allowed at Fladbury.

Re: Middle Severn Barbel Behaviour

Never known this with barbel, but this season more than ever on the middle Severn I’ve had pike attacking feeders. From when they hit the water and on the way to the bottom, also when reeling in an empty feeder (which is understandable) Like as said above what feels like good bite then nothing, l’ve put them all down to pike but who knows could be barbel.
Almost every time I fish the Severn there’s a pike about chasing bait fish

Re: what3words

I have used it, and must say I’m very impressed - but as Ken said has its drawbacks.

When I get settled at a venue I send my Mrs my location via W3W, much easier than trying to explain where I am as she wouldn’t have clue anyway ! At least I could be found if I needed help.

Re: What's the benefit of 'hollow' pole elastic over solid?

Not that I am a great fan of pole fishing, I believe that as long as you have confidence in your kit it makes little difference. Possibly another case if the angler getting caught ! As I am regularly!

I believe that angling is one of the few sports that it’s more about the skill and experience of the angler than equipment being used (other than decent line and hooks)

Re: Which BAA swims on the Severn & Teme still produce regular barbel in the 2020's please?

Hi Mork best advise I can give is what I was told. Leave the rods at home and walk the banks. When I retired I spent a couple of weeks visiting as many different stretches as I could and it was a great education.

Regarding best swims, as Chris said not a good idea on an open forum but at the end of the day do your homework and you will be rewarded.
